What is Cohere AI?
Cohere is an AI company founded in 2019 by former Google Brain researchers (including Geoffrey Hinton's students) that builds large language models specifically optimized for enterprise and business use cases. Unlike OpenAI which targets consumers and developers broadly, Cohere focuses on business-critical applications.
Cohere's flagship models include Command R+ (long-context generation), Embed 3 (best-in-class embeddings for semantic search), and Rerank (improving search relevance). These are deployed by major enterprises for customer support, document search, and automated workflows.
